4-2 Out of the Gauntlet: These Broncos Just Keep Finding a Way

By , BroncosLand ·

Broncos Country, enjoy this quiet Sunday. Your team earned it.

Our Take: Nobody is pretending the offense is fixed, but a 4-2 start through that opening schedule is a real accomplishment, and this team's habit of winning close games is starting to look like who they are, not luck.

Denver sits at 4-2 after the 17-14 overtime win over Seattle, and Mile High Report's Ian St. Clair calls it "a helluva feat" after the six-game gauntlet to open the season. Sean Payton was blunt after the game: "We found a way to get four wins," he said, while adding that the offense has to become "more effective, more efficient." He called the defense "lights out" and admitted the realist in him knows "four and two could easily be two and four."

Bo Nix pointed to the schedule, too. "We came up short just barely in San Fran. We could be 5-1. 4-2 is a really good spot," he said, per Mile High Report. J.K. Dobbins kept it simple: "That is what it comes down to, execution."

The close-game habit is real. All four wins have been one-score games, and since the start of 2025 the Broncos are 15-2 in one-score regular-season games, per DenverBroncos.com.

What to watch: how the offense uses this extra rest. The defense has carried this team; the next step is Nix and the passing game giving it some cushion so every week isn't a coin flip in the fourth quarter.
