Bo Nix Ran Away From the Doubters: A 62-Yard Franchise Record and 'You Believe Me Now?'
Broncos Country, you can exhale. The question that hung over Bo Nix for weeks got answered at full speed, and he ran away from the doubters doing it.
Our Take: That 62-yard dash was more than a highlight. It was the clearest sign yet that Nix is healthy and that this offense can finally hit big plays again. That changes the ceiling for this team.
Late in the second quarter of a 6-6 game in Sunday's 30-16 win, Nix climbed the pocket and took off. Per Next Gen Stats, nobody got within four yards of him until he was inside the 5, according to DenverBroncos.com. It set the franchise record for the longest run by a Broncos quarterback, and it was the longest by any NFL quarterback since Justin Fields in 2022. Denver Sports reports he hit 19.9 mph, his fastest as a ball carrier on a touchdown.
Then he hit RJ Harvey on a screen that went 52 yards. That made Nix just the fifth player ever to run for and throw for a 50-yard touchdown in the same game. He finished 15-of-29 for 222 yards and added 73 yards on the ground.
Asked about his ankle, Nix smiled: "You believe me now?" Sean Payton put it simply: "He's our guy." Garett Bolles added, "That's what we needed."
What to watch: the Broncos went 3-of-11 on third down, and Nix said he hopes the team gets "coached tough" this week. Clean that up and this offense is dangerous.
