Broncos Get Jonah Coleman and Jonathon Cooper Back for Arizona, Badie and Elliss Head to IR

By , BroncosLand ·

Broncos Country, the cavalry just showed up. Right before a road trip to Arizona, Denver got a starting-caliber running back and a proven edge rusher back in the same afternoon.

Our Take: This is a net win for Sunday. Losing Tyler Badie and Jonah Elliss stings, but Coleman and Cooper are the bigger pieces, and both fill the exact holes those IR moves open.

Per DenverBroncos.com, the team activated RB Jonah Coleman and OLB Jonathon Cooper on Saturday and placed RB Tyler Badie and OLB Jonah Elliss on injured reserve. Coleman had 58 scrimmage yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars in Week 2 before landing on IR and missing four games. Cooper, removed from the Commissioner's Exempt list, could make his season debut. He has posted at least eight sacks, eight tackles for loss and 13 QB hits in each of the last three seasons.

Badie and Elliss must miss at least four games and could return as early as Week 12 against the Steelers. Sean Payton indicated Elliss' injury is not expected to end his season. Denver also elevated S Taylor Rapp and DB Sean Fresch Jr. from the practice squad.

Fantasy impact: Coleman is the add of the week if he's on your wire. With Badie out, he should step into real touches behind an offense averaging just 3.4 yards per carry (NFL.com), so treat him as a FLEX with upside, not a locked-in RB2, until we see his snap share. Badie managers can drop or stash. In IDP leagues, Cooper is a priority pickup, and the Broncos D/ST gets a pass-rush bump against Arizona.

What to watch: Coleman's snap count and Cooper's pass-rush snaps Sunday at 2:05 PM MT on CBS.
