Pat Surtain II Returns to Practice as the Broncos Get Healthier for Arizona
Broncos Country, the best news of the week didn't come from the podium. It came from the practice field.
Pat Surtain II practiced Wednesday for the first time since hurting his ankle in Week 4 at San Francisco, according to DenverBroncos.com. He was listed as limited as Denver opened on-field work for Sunday's trip to Arizona. The Denver Gazette notes he sat out the last two games, against the Chargers and Seattle.
He had company. Rookie running back Jonah Coleman was designated to return from injured reserve and was a full participant. Cornerback Riley Moss (ribs), who played 20 defensive snaps in his Week 6 return, was full as well. Jaylen Waddle (chest) was limited, and Zach Allen got a rest day.
The other side of the ledger: Tyler Badie (thumb), Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) and Jonah Elliss (ankle) did not practice. Sean Payton said Elliss' injury is not season-ending, per the Gazette.
Our Take: Getting your All-Pro corner back on the field is huge, but there's no reason to rush him. Denver is 4-2, and the Gazette points out the Chiefs come to town Nov. 1. If Surtain needs one more week, Moss being a full go makes that a lot easier to live with.
What to watch: Thursday's practice report, then Friday's game statuses. Any upgrade from limited would be a good sign for Sunday's 2:05 p.m. Mountain kickoff in Glendale.
